Privacy and analytics

Updated October 11, 2026.

CarzMarket uses its own activity data to understand which pages and cars shoppers find useful and where the buying experience needs improvement.

Optional activity analytics

If you allow analytics, we record page categories, public vehicle identifiers, clicks and taps, scroll milestones, searches and result counts, photo interactions, form steps, and time spent actively using the site. We use a random browser identifier and visit identifiers to measure return visits, browsing paths, and average cars viewed. These identifiers are not linked to your shopper account, name, or email. A browser is not necessarily one person.

We do not record typed text, search phrases, passwords, inquiry messages, phone numbers, email addresses, precise location, screenshots, or session video. We do not obtain activity from other websites or add advertising profiles. Dealer workspaces, authentication callbacks, and password reset pages are excluded.

Storage and access

Activity is sent through CarzMarket to Firebase Firestore in the Dealer OS infrastructure. Site-wide reports are restricted to explicitly authorized owner accounts. Browser activity and identifiers expire after 90 days; scheduled cleanup removes expired records. Isolated test activity expires after one day. A short-lived, daily hashed network identifier is used for abuse limits; raw IP addresses are not saved in analytics records.

Your controls

Analytics starts only after you allow it. Declining stops further activity collection and clears the analytics identity cookie. We honor Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals. You can continue to search, compare, save cars, and contact dealerships without allowing analytics.

Your analytics choice

Current preference: Not chosen.

Account and dealership requests

Information you deliberately provide when creating an account or contacting a dealership is handled separately from optional analytics. An inquiry shares your contact details and message with the dealership owner so they can respond. Essential authentication, request records, and operational security logs are required to provide those services.

Private conversations and offers

Dealer conversations and price proposals are available to the shopper and the active dealership owner. Shopper-to-shopper conversations require an invitation to a verified email and acceptance by its recipient. We store the invitation address, messages, and read positions to deliver conversations, show unread counts and read receipts, and prevent abuse. These records are separate from activity analytics. Email notifications link to the conversation without including its message text.

You can close a shopper conversation or decline and block an invitation. Closing stops replies and keeps the conversation history in the account. Price proposals do not complete a vehicle purchase or reserve a vehicle.
